The Japanese are studying the site for the construction of a closed bulk cargo terminal in Nakhodka

Japanese experts from a subsidiary of the corporation Marubeni – Oriental Consultants are developing a scheme for placing a closed-type transshipment complex, which will be built in Nakhodka on the territory of the Astafiev Terminal. The agreement on construction was concluded at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, IA PrimaMedia was told in the press service of the Astafiev terminal.

The Memorandum concluded on May 25 in St. Petersburg in the presence of the provisional Governor of Primorye Andrey Tarasenko and Chairman of the Board of Marubeni’s Director, Mr. Teruro Asad, provides for a phased transition of the Astafiev Terminal to a closed type of coal transshipment. This work is carried out in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation on the introduction of technologies for the closed transshipment of coal in Nakhodka by 2020.

Based on the study of the construction site, Oriental Consultants will develop a detailed simulation of the process of transition to a closed type of transshipment. The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that the transition will take place in the conditions of the operating enterprise. Marubeni has a rich experience in implementing similar projects in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region: Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China and the Russian port of Taman.

The supplier of equipment will be the German company Shade Lagertechnik – the world’s largest manufacturer of loading equipment for closed bulk cargo terminals. The equipment is fully automated and excludes contact of coal with the environment.

The construction of this terminal will be the first such experience in the Far East of Russia and will allow other coal terminals to use the accumulated experience of transition to a closed type of transshipment.
