The Astafiev Terminal’s delegation took part in the business mission of the Russian regions in Japan


Astafiev Terminal and Marubeni Corporation discussed the implementation of the project for closed handling of coal at the site of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

On February 4-5, Tokyo is hosting an official visit of the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and promising Russian technology companies. The Russian delegation will present in Tokyo the investment potential of its regions and the developments of Russian technology companies.

Over 10 companies and organizations from Primorsky Region that actively implement joint Russian-Japanese projects will take part in the business negotiations.

The Astafiev Terminal’s delegation held a meeting at the site of the Japan External Trade Organization with a work team of Marubeni Corporation which is participating in the implementation of the joint project to switch to a closed handling of coal. The parties discussed the stages of the project implementation and plans for the development of railway infrastructure and the erection of closed environmentally friendly warehouses for the storage of bulk cargo. At present, the adaptation of warehouse layout options and technological equipment proposed by the Japanese company is being completed. The designing of a shed over the area of railway car discharging is in progress.

Ruslan Kondratov, General Director of Astafiev Terminal OJSC, also held negotiations with large Japanese logistics companies.

In mid-January, a delegation from the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan that is commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Transport visited the Astafiev Terminal. Together with representatives of Marubeni Corporation, the Japanese specialists reviewed the progress of the project for the switching to closed handling of coal in Nakhodka. According to the representatives of the delegation, in Japan, the great attention is paid to environmental protection, and handling of coal with no impact on the atmosphere is an important factor in cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
